Presents the Japanese story of the Yamato and its final voyage in April of 1945 as was known at the time the book was written.

Reprint of the original book, first published in the 1950s or early 1960s I believe.

A classic that must be read!

This book was unknown to me, even though I was familiar with the history of the IJN Yamato.

Yamato The battleship

This WWII look at the largest battleship on record is amazing view of a world not seen much on this side of the Pacific.

A very personal book...

This is really a sort of diary of a crew member of the most powerful, advanced, well-protected and yet simultaneously outdated and doomed battleship ever built..

One of the Best first-person accounts of World War 2

Yoshida's book is a literary masterpiece, combining matter-of-fact first-hand, blow-by-blow, minute by minute reporting of the last battle of Battleship Yamato with philosophical thoughts on the meaning of the entire war, poignant and eloquent eulogies for friends and fellow shipmates who died, and ultimately on the meaning of life itself.
