I read this book to my third grader as a history activity as we are talking about the beginning of written language and this book references the Rosetta Stone. We read one chapter book a week and he complains about half of them being boring (I think they are all great), he enjoyed this treasure hunt style book however and had fun looking up more about the British Museum, Cleopatra's Needle, Big Ben, and the Rosetta Stone. One of those rare instances where so much learning was going on and he thought it was just entertainment. We also happened to choose this book on the week that his Language Arts assignment was to study parts of a book (contents, glossary, bold text), so he had fun finding all those parts in a fun book that he actually liked. He didn't want to solve the codes in the book, but he seemed to really enjoy watching me work them out.

Again can’t say enough about these stories. The vocabulary list, the quick facts, the incorporated puzzles, and the emphasis on Lottie being a learner are great. Can’t say enough good things!
