The Yosemite National Park Day Hikes Topographic Map Guide includes eighteen diverse hikes for all hiking enthusiasts, from the easy, 2.8 mile long Hetch Hetchy Valley Overlook to the strenuous, 14.7 mile long Laurel Lake Trail with 3,900' of elevation gain. Each hike has a detailed map, a trail profile visualizing the changes in elevation, and a short summary of the interesting features encountered along the trip.

Some of the must-visit sites in this Topographic Map Guide are: Yosemite Falls&;the tallest waterfall in North America at 2,425 feet, Mariposa Grove&;a scenic loop featuring Giant Sequoias, some the biggest trees in the world, and Mono Pass&;a historic trans-Sierra route used by Native Americans and settlers prior to the development of wagon roads.

More convenient and easier to use than folded maps, but just as compact and lightweight, National Geographic's Topographic Map Guide booklets are printed on "Backcountry Tough" waterproof, tear-resistant paper with stainless steel staples. My son and I had been planning our Yosemite Adventure for several months. The closer our D-Day got the more we began researching the trails in the park. I purchased the National Gear Trail Guide just a week before we were scheduled to get to Yosemite thinking it might be fun to peruse on the flight to CA. Turns out this guide was our “go to” reference guide, providing us with a very concise, accurate description of the 18 or so day hikes in the park. We are experienced hikers but having this trail guide really helped us decide which hike we would take each day based on length and degree of difficulty. This allowed me us to make the best use of our time in the park. No guess work. Must have for hikers of ANY level of experience.

This is the one we used the most. Covers all the main trails and the maps are great. Waterproof so no worries when hiking the waterfalls areas that are very wet.

Don't. It's not a fold out map, it's a booklet. Could I have missed this detail in the description? Probably. Doesn't change the fact that full sections of the park are cut off so you can't plan or chart your hikes.
